Farewell to the Former Commissioner General of Rehabilitation Brigadier Dharshana Hettiarrachchi.

Brigadier Dharshana Hettiarrachchi RSP USP who functioned as the Commissioner General of Rehabilitation (CGR) since 22.02.2012 bid farewell to his appointment to engage in higher studies with effect from 01.07.2013.

During his tenure as the CGR under the Ministry of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms, Brigadier Dharshana Hettiarrachchi successfully carried out his duties with a greater sense of commitment and making the best use of his vast knowledge on the subject and long years of experience as a senior Military Officer. Under his initiative as the CGR, a large number of beneficiaries were successfully reintegrated into the society as responsible citizens of the country.

Also a mechanism to provide facilities and to foster livelihood assistance to reintegrated beneficiaries and, to follow up their post rehabilitation process, 8 Socio-Economic and Welfare Coordinating Offices were established island wide, under his initiative and guidance.

He is an officer and a gentleman who took a keen interest to personally visit the rehabilitees under going rehabilitation programs in the centers very often and, this was very much appreciated by the beneficiaries and their family members as well. He also took many a steps to provide the beneficiaries with the facility of short term Leave and to give extra training sessions to the staff of the Bureau to enhance their knowledge on the trade craft as well.

The bureau express it\'s sincere thanks and appreciation to Brigadier Dharshana Hettiarrachchi for his guidance and the concern he displayed for the wellbeing of all who served under him.

A Special memento was handed over to Brigadier Dharshana Hettiarrachchi at the end of the brief farewell function ceremony in appreciation of services rendered during his tenure as the CGR.
