Rehabilitant Beneficiaries on a familiarization tour in the south.

Over 500 Rehabilitant Beneficiaries currently undergoing formal rehabilitation under the Bureau of the Commissioner General of Rehabilitation visited south of Sri Lanka on a Tour of Friendship, on 08th September 2011. This Tour of Friendship was organized by the Ministry of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms together with Bureau of the Commissioner General of Rehabilitation on a concept of Hon. Minister Chandrasiri Gajadeera, Minister of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms.

These 500 Rehabilitant Beneficiaries will join there family's in coming weeks in a color full Reintegration Ceremony schedule to be held in Vavuniya soon.

These Rehabilitant Beneficiaries have undergone a successful Rehabilitation Process under Bureau of the Commissioner General of Rehabilitation and received a Comprehensive Vocational Training package to start a new life as they are reintegrated back in to the Society, during their stage in protective accommodations and Rehabilitation Centers.

During the final stages of the Humanitarian Operations 1200 LTTE combatants were brought under a rehabilitation program and 8240 of them have already been reintegrated society on completion of successful Rehabilitation Program, more than half of them have already been Reintegrated in to the Society. Major General Chandana Rajaguru RWP, RSP, USP, Commissioner General of Rehabilitation said that balance Rehabilitation Beneficiaries currently undergoing Rehabilitation also would be reintegrated back in to the society in small batches soon. Further some of the child soldiers were able to complete their secondary education and some of them have also gained entry to Universities for tertiary education. They are aspiring to lead a peaceful life leading towards a brighter future.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development together with the Ministry of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms has taken steps to organize a program called "Thal ruppawen Pol ruppawata" to link-up the North and South on a permanent basis while completely freeing the Tamil youth from the war psychosis.

Under the sponsorship of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development a 3 day friendship tour will take place from September 08 - 12 from Northern Province to Matara,Galle and Kataragama with the participation of 525 beneficiaries both Male and Female.

The Inauguration Ceremony will be be held at the Matara Sanath Jayasooriya Play Ground on September 08, under the patronage of the Minister of Youth Affairs and Skills Development Dallas Alahapperuma, Minister of Rehabilitation and Prisons Reforms Chandrasiri Gajadeera, Matara District MP Sanath Jayasooriya , Mr. A.Disanayaka Secretary Ministry of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms , Major General Chandana Rajaguru RWP,RSP,USP Commissioner General of Rehabilitation and several other distinguished guests.
